ALIBABA INNOVATION PRIVATE LTD V. HONG KONG JUHUASUAN INTERNATIONAL TRADING LTD

Alibaba Innovation Private Limited brought trademark infringement and passing-off proceedings against Hong Kong Juhuasuan International Trading Limited (香港聚划算國際貿易有限公司) for using the 'Juhuasuan' and '聚划算' names associated with Alibaba's group buying platform. The defendant did not appear and default judgment was sought. Deputy High Court Judge Grace Chow granted a permanent injunction with costs summarily assessed at HK$30,000.
