LAI CHIK KUN MICHAEL AND OTHERS V. THE BAPTIST CONVENTION OF HONG KONG AND ANOTHER

The 2nd plaintiff (Koo Ming Kown) in proceedings against the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong applied for leave to bring contempt proceedings against four intended respondents for alleged false statements. Au-Yeung J found insufficient evidence of the requisite state of mind (knowledge of falsity) and that supplemental materials were retrospective engineering to salvage a hopeless case. Leave to commence contempt proceedings was refused.
