HKSAR V. KHONGSRI JANPEN

Khongsri Janpen, a Thai national and former daughter-in-law, was convicted after trial of fraud for deceiving her mother-in-law of HK$510,855 by impersonating a third party via mobile phone messages. The court found the prosecution proved the charge beyond reasonable doubt based on the mobile phone evidence and the irresistible inference that the defendant communicated as the impersonated person.
